Contemporary German painter. Representative of figurative painting. Studied at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig with Malte Sartorius and Heinz Günter Prager. Lives and works in Paris. Large-scale works in the tradition of Romanticism, narrative images with mysterious worlds, fantasy spaces, improvised architectures like a dreams or paradise. Interest in dropout movements such as Monte Verità and the hippie culture. The protagonists in his fantasy worlds are children or teenagers, often naked androgynous bodies as here hairless, in enigmatic constellations like the still life with pears and grasshoppers. Next to the fruits and animals, skulls and bones line up as a parable for the transience of life.
