Born on September 18, 1929 in Marcoux, France. Polish graphic artist specializing in lithography, brother of Roman Opałka. During World War II, Opałka stayed with his family in Germany. In the 1940s, he studied with Hoffman and Petzolt of the Wunderlich School for four years. With the end of hostilities, he returned to Bessèges, France. In 1946, he came to Poland. He worked for many years as a "master of the workshop" in the lithographic studio at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and in the Experimental Lithographic Studio in Warsaw's Saska Kępa district. Henryk Opałka's students included: Jolanta Błaszczyk, Małgorzata Chwiałkowska-Rakasz, Robert Kurzaj, Andrzej Newelski, Anna Socha-Jelonek, Grażyna Małowicka, Katarzyna Ortwein, Anna Sobol, Piotr Szancer, Krystyna Wąsik, Kazimierz Makowski.
