Swiss painter and sculptor of the 20th century. Worked in Basel in a workshop in the empty barracks of the Gotthelfschulhaus, where Karl Theophil Dick, Numa Donzé, Otto Roos, Carl Pflüger and Jean Jacques Lüscher also had their studios. Published graphic portfolios together with Paul Basilius Barth, Numa Donzé, Paul Hosch, Jean Jacques Lüscher, Haiggi Müller, Otto Roos and Ernesto Schiess. Created mainly portraits, self-portraits, landscapes and still lifes. The View over Lake Geneva was shown in 1918 at the sensational exhibition The New Life at the Kunsthalle in Basel, the first time cubist tendencies were exhibited in Swiss art. Influence of Postimpressiosnism, Paul Cezanne, Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh.
