watercolor, gouache, paper; 26.5 x 39.5 cm;
signed lower right: lenica
Provenance:
private collection, Poland
The work is mounted on museum-grade glass.
The horizontal composition consists of overlapping light and brown textures. Between the larger patches of color, delicate lines—sometimes parallel—form, becoming denser in the central part of the work. As a result, the painting has a distinct rhythm: more elaborate sections alternate with those of a less dense structure. The title of the painting refers to the musical inspirations in the work of Lenica, a professional violinist who himself emphasized the importance of rhythm, line, and color in his painting.
