Pair of carvings, Poland, 17th/18th century.

Steel plate, brass plate; overall length 32 cm, bracelet length 13.5 cm, max. width 11.5 cm.

The spoon ended in a curve, the bracelet convex, with a prominent boney. Both elements united by two hinges on rivets. Also riveted fastening elements - two buckles and two rectangular catches. The edges of the spoon and the bracelet are decorated with brass plates, cut in semicircular teeth, in the upper part of the spoon and both shorter sides of the bracelet in the shape of a sharp ridge. These slats are decorated with a punched pattern formed of small circles, characteristic of similar wares of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The presented carvings are a beautiful and extremely rare piece of hussar armor. They come from the collection of Feliks Sciballa.
