Order of the Tower and Sword, founded in 1808, set of grand crosses comprising: the necklace in vermeil composed of forty-one links, ten towers and ten crowns of green enamelled oak loaded with a blue enamelled sword, connected by twenty decorative links in the form of scrolls and fleurons, at the top a small circular link loaded with a suspension hook, bearing the motto of the order, below the jewel of the order in enamelled vermeil, the centre in chased and enamelled gold ; and the plate in pearled vermeil, the enamelled star, the centre in chased gold in three enamelled parts, fixed by a double toggle pin.The jewel : 69 x 57 mm, the chain : 96 cmThe plate : 77 x 61 mmPortugal, late 19th century.
