August II the Strong, Mocking medal from 1707, On the bad situation in Poland, Christian Wermuth

Weight 5.20 g, diameter 26 mm. Unsigned. By Christian Wermuth (1661-1739). A later cast of a very rare medal, probably made in the 19th century.

Obverse: a hand holding a lantern, on which the vertical letters of the date: MDCCVII (1707), around the rim a legend: ICH SEN ES GERNE BESSER (I would gladly see better). Reverse: a legend in 9 lines: Es sieht viel SCHLIMM aus IN POLONIA M. F. 1707 (M. F. 1707 looks very bad in Poland).
