Toshiaki Yoshimura, the winner of the 2014 Mino Grand Prize in the Design section, pays special attention to the texture of his works. The surfaces are reminiscent of worn and rusted metal: qualities that generate in him a feeling of tranquillity resulting from isolation. Yoshimura seems to have a strong affinity with the complex Japanese aesthetics closely associated with 'wabi-sabi', the core of his creative energy.
