A rare variant for this year, with a title ending in LI (instead of the common LIT).
Nice detail and overall appearance, though the surface is somewhat worn.
After 1555, the mint’s leaseholder, Feliks, significantly curtailed the issuance of groszy, virtually halting it until 1559, when he received permission to lower the coinage standard. This issue marked the end of grosz minting at the Lithuanian standard in Vilnius during the reign of Sigismund II Augustus.
This is the first time this coin has been offered in our catalog (out of the 18 groszy coins from this year).
