Autographed silver plaque, lost wax casting, 13.7 x 10.3 cm, weight 279 g. Cold-chiseled. An extraordinary and exceptionally rare specimen. ORIGIN Grimani family of Venice, commissioned by Cardinal Domenico Grimani and then placed in the 'nobilissimo studiolo' of Patriarch Giovanni Grimani. Donated to the Serenissima, exhibited at the Biblioteca Marciana, Venice since 1593; conserved at the Palazzo Ducale, Venice since 1623. Documented in Venice until 1804, then all traces of it are lost and it is lost like the 'nobilissimo studiolo'. Purchased on the Mantua art market in 2019. EXPOSURE Following the request of the Director of the Polo Museale Veneto, Dr. Daniele Ferrara, on March 10, 2021, the plaque was granted on long-term loan to the Palazzo Grimani Museum and exhibited within the “Domus Grimani” exhibition itinerary. The artwork is accompanied by the Certificate of Free Circulation.
