Rare organisational badge of the Polish Music Society in Lwów, one of the most important musical institutions in the Polish lands. The Society originated from the Galician Music Society, founded in 1838, and after Poland regained independence it adopted the name Polish Music Society. Its mission was to promote musical culture through the organisation of concerts, educational activities, and the operation of its conservatory, one of the leading music schools of the Second Polish Republic.
During the interwar period, the Society became the principal organiser of musical life in Lwów. It arranged symphony and chamber concerts, recitals by leading Polish and international performers, and carried out extensive educational and publishing activities. Its conservatory was associated with such distinguished musicians as Mieczysław Sołtys, Adam Sołtys, and Józef Koffler, one of the most prominent Polish composers of the twentieth century.
