A commemorative badge made on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of Brzeżany, solemnly celebrated in 1930.
The history of Brzeżany as a town began in 1530 , when, during the General Sejm in Kraków, King Sigismund I the Old granted Mikołaj Sieniawski a privilege allowing him to transform the village of Brzeżany into a town. In the following centuries, the town, strongly associated with the Sieniawski family, developed into one of the most important urban centers in the southeastern lands of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
In 1930, Brzeżany celebrated the 400th anniversary of its founding . The town's anniversary coincided with the 125th anniversary of the local Gymnasium, and the City Council appointed a special organizing committee to prepare for the celebrations. The main ceremonies were planned for June 28–30, 1930 , with events including a reunion of former professors and students of Brzeżany Gymnasium, ceremonial ceremonies, church services, and municipal events.
The significance of the anniversary was also reflected in contemporary publications. In 1930, materials were published devoted to the city's four-hundred-year history, including the study "Brzeżany 1530–1930," and the national press published articles recalling the city's history and the role of the Sieniawski family.
