Biography
He studied at the Department of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and earned his diploma in Prof. Eugeniusz Eibisch’s studio in 1970. In 1966, he created his most prolific series, “Hitchhiking Journeys.” In the 1980s, Dwurnik’s painting became expressive and dramatic. In the 1990s, he created a continuation of “Hitchhiking Journeys,” namely “Blue Cities,” “Diagonal,” “Blue,” and “Counting Rhyme.” In 1981, he received the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Award; in 1983, the Solidarity Cultural Award; and the Coutts and Co. International Private Banking Award in Zurich. He participated in Documenta 7 in Kassel in 1982, the Nouvelle Biennale de Paris in 1985, and the 19th São Paulo Art Biennial in 1987.
