An Art Deco crystal decanter with a deer motif, from the Czechoslovakian glass-making region of Nový Bor (Haida) in the 1930s.
The Nový Bor region [also known at the time by its German name, Haida]—one of the most important centers for the production of luxury art glass
in Europe.
The decanter, made of crystal glass, is decorated using the “cut-to-clear” technique, in which a darker ruby-colored layer
of glass is cut to reveal the transparent crystal beneath.
